You know what the scariest grown up move is in the developing world?
BUYING A HOUSE.
(Okay, maybe having a baby is scarier. Since it’s a real live person and all.)
So much money. So many years. So much paperwork.
I watch a lot of TLC and some MTV now and then, so I know there are some scarier things in the world. Like Honey Boo Boo and anything to do with Tila Tequila.
Thank goodness for trashy reality television and its perspective-giving graces.
We did one round of house hunting, which is nothing like House Hunters (those posers), and ended up with a short list of potential properties. And by short list I mean one house.
Ta-dah! Like Old Navy jeans on clearance, I was hooked as soon as I saw it online. After one showing we decided it was the house for us.
Our awesome Realtor and dog park friend Laurie Vann guided us through the process. After some typical back-and-forth negotiating with the sellers, they accepted our offer. SO MANY ZEROES.
Of course we’ll go through an inspection and if all goes well we’ll close in early September.
To answer the question in your head, why yes, I did create a Target Wish List of fun things for the new house. You know me so well.
This is an exciting time for us. We started sorting through our junk room guest bedroom and will start filling boxes soon. Naturally I can’t wait to label and organize everything. In addition to my new job, summer of 2012 is turning out to be a winner for us.
What we look forward to most:
- a yard (garden for me, fire pit for Elliot, play time for Norton)
- privacy from neighbors
- no carpet anywhere
- front porch
- bigger kitchen
- patio
- being close to downtown
- freaking owning a house
Here are some more photos of the house. If we’re Facebook friends, look for a post about moving day so you can get in the action!
- Casa de Acosta
- Cracked red tile floor. Drooling.
- Oh the glorious counter space.
- Double sinks. DOUBLE SINKS.
- Mr. Puff’s kingdom and garden space for me.

This is so AWESOME! I love the pictures!
Thanks Caitlin! I’ll post more pics once we can get in to take our own. I can’t wait to paint and decorate!
Sara, this is so exciting! I love the pictures.
